Fund For Refugee

Fund For Refugee

Combining impact investing expertise with refugee insights and global presence.

Summary

The Fund for Refugee enables us to respond effectively to today's global refugee crisis. With over 70 million people forcibly displaced from their homes and over 205 million refugees, this is the largest humanitarian disaster of our generation. This urgent fund ensures our teams' rapid response to emergencies and enables us to deal with challenges facing refugee populations.

Challenge

Today, we are witnessing the highest number of refugees and displaced people ever. The figures are devastating. Over 70 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, and there are over 20 million refugees of which 55% are children. Despite the shift in media attention, the Middle East and Africa refugee crises remain desperately urgent, with thousands fleeing brutal conflict daily. This is an unprecedented global emergency that demands our attention today and tomorrow.

Solution

In recent years, we have been at the forefront of the Global Refugee Response Council, with teams operating in affected areas like Central African Republic, South Sudan, Kenya and Uganda. As well as emergency response, we run sustainable programs to build resilience, advance child protection, improve sanitation and offer livelihood opportunities. The fund supports diverse initiatives run by professionals to meet refugees' changing needs as they navigate new and unstable realities.

Impact

Although refugees have urgent needs like access to clean water and medical care, there are many issues associated with forced displacement, 'temporary' shelter and resettlement. This fund will support programs which focus on short and long term needs of affected populations, like our Water Management Training which gives refugees in Africa livelihood prospects and access to water. These build refugees' capacity to process the past, deal with the present and build a new future.
